Me-Made May is almost here, and we're also getting closer to our one-year anniversary as a business. To celebrate, we're teaming up with five local makers, designers, and teachers to host a month of Instagram giveaways, including Fringe Fabrics gift cards. We hope you'll join us!
What is Me-Made May?
Started by Zoe Edwards, Me-Made May is a month-long, personal sewing challenge that helps you improve your relationship with your handmade items by pledging to wear them throughout the month. It’s not a competition—rather, it’s a celebration of your skills, style, and creativity, and a great way to practice wearing your handmade items on the regular. Our Instagram prompts and giveaways are meant to complement, not replace, the larger Me-Made May movement, so feel free to participate in a way that feels authentic to you and your personal pledge.
How do I participate in Me-Made May giveaways?
- Each week, we'll share a prompt on our Instagram page tied to a specific theme and sponsored by member of the San Diego sewing community.
- Simply put together an outfit with at least one handmade item, share it by the Sunday of that week on Instagram. No need to use Fringe Fabrics materials—if you made it, it counts!
- Be sure to use the hashtag #memademay2025 and tag Fringe Fabrics and the week's sponsor.
That’s it! You’ll automatically be entered into that week’s giveaway. Since Me-Made May isn't meant to be a competition, winners will be selected via raffle.
But what if...
- I'm not on Instagram? No worries, you can still send a picture to jacqui@fringefabrics.com to be entered into the week's raffle. We won't share it unless you want us to.
- I don't have anyone to take my photo? We've got you. Simply stop by the shop and we'll be happy to snap a pic.
- I hate taking outfit photos? All good! While you won't be able to enter the giveaway, you can stop by our Me-Made Meetup, sponsored by Seamwork Social Club, on May 24th at the store and celebrate in person! We'll share more details on the event soon.
